Supporting single mothers with newborns in need through the quiet, essential work of overnight care.

At The Gift of Time, we believe that every mother deserves rest, especially in the earliest and most vulnerable days of raising a newborn. Our mission is to provide compassionate, overnight care for single mothers with newborns in need—giving them the time and support they need to heal, bond, and begin their journey in motherhood with strength and dignity.

Starting in the Columbia River Gorge and expanding outward, we are building a community of care rooted in love, trust, and the simple, powerful gift of rest.

Our Mission

Our Story

In 2022, Marlowe became a single mother with an 18-month-old son and another baby on the way. It was a season of profound exhaustion—and unexpected grace. With the support of friends, family, and a few extraordinary night nurses, she was able to rest, reconnect with herself, and return to her children each day with the presence and strength they deserved.

That time—those quiet, restorative nights—offered more than just sleep. It was a soul-level healing that reminded her she wasn’t alone. And it stirred a question that wouldn’t let go: What about the mothers who don’t have this kind of support?

The Gift of Time was born from that question and a quiet promise she made to give back someday.

Founded in 2024 alongside a small circle of loved ones, The Gift of Time offers overnight care to single mothers in need—starting in the Columbia River Gorge, with hopes to grow. Because this kind of support shouldn’t be a luxury. Every mother deserves rest, care, and the reminder that she doesn’t have to do it all alone.

How We Operate

Our Partners

The Gift of Time serves as both a connector and a source of funding—bringing together the mothers who need care and the professionals who provide it.

We are working with The Next Door to identify single mothers with newborns in need throughout the Columbia River Gorge. Once matched, we connect them with ItsABelly in Portland, a trusted postpartum care provider, to ensure these mothers receive high-quality overnight support from trained professionals.

Our role is to make it all possible—securing the care, covering the cost, and standing in the gap so these mothers don’t have to.

Because no one should have to navigate those early weeks alone.
